Will you lend something to our FKPC Creative Exhibit?

Many blessings to you this Christmas season, from the Art 4 All team!

We hope you have enjoyed the artwork that has beautified our church hallway in recent years. We have been graced by the art of Arlene Bowman, Dalene Taulli, Anne MacKay, Joan Promin, Phyllis Craggs, Faye Siler, and others. Currently, the wall features inspiring works by the members of Champions 4 Champions, a local group of young people with special challenges. We are grateful to Joan Promin, who contributed the hanging system and has helped organize many of the exhibits, and to Joan and Philip Woods for their help with hanging.

For our next exhibit, Art 4 All wants to celebrate creative efforts by our entire FKPC family during the 2025 Lenten season. In the words of Art 4 All Chair Susan Jensen, “Lent is a time for introspection and self-giving. [This is a] good time to share our inward creativity and give glory to the image of the Creator within us.”

Do you have a piece or two that you or a family member has created, which we might display?

Here are the details:

  • Who? ALL ages are welcome to submit pieces!
  • What? Pieces may be realistic or abstract, functional or decorative, and may include (but not be limited to) painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, collage, fabric art, pottery, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, and more.
    • Two-dimensional pieces must be neatly presented and ready to hang (for example, wrapped or framed canvas, hanging hardware already installed). We are unable to display items like unframed paper drawings. We do have a few shadow boxes that we can use to display small items like jewelry. If you are unsure whether your piece is gallery-ready, please just contact Joanne or any other Art 4 All team member with any questions.
    • Content need not be “religious,” but must be appropriate for viewing by any age, and suitable for a church setting.
    • If your piece is very large or three-dimensional, we may not be able to hang it without damaging the wall. But feel free to submit for consideration, regardless!
  • How many? You are invited to submit up to 2 pieces.  The number of pieces displayed will depend on wall space and the number of submissions. There are no limits on the dates the pieces were created, or whether they have been shown in previous exhibits outside of FKPC.
  • How to submit? If possible, please snap a photo of each piece and send to Joanne Ohlman at 352-843-3046 (cell) or jcornellohlman@gmail.com. This process will help save time, storage space, and transportation hassles! Please get your photo(s) to Joanne by noon on January 31. If you are unable to send images via cell or email, just call her to discuss other alternatives. Please include your name, title of the piece, media/materials, and year created (if you know it).
  • When? Here is the timeline:
    • Friday, January 31 — Deadline for submission of photos of artwork. Make sure to send to Joanne Ohlman by noon (352-843-3046 or jcornellohlman@gmail.com)
    • Saturday, February 1 — Art 4 All selection committee will meet and review submissions. You will be contacted by a team member by Sunday, February 2, to let you know the status of your submission(s). If special hanging arrangements are needed, we can discuss at that time.
    • Sunday, February 23 — Please bring your accepted submission(s) to church between 8:30 and noon. If this is not feasible, contact Joanne to make other arrangements.
    • Wednesday, March 5 — This is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Pieces will be hung prior to this date, and will remain on display throughout Lent.
    • Sunday, April 20 — This is Easter Sunday. We would love to have your art on display at least until after the Worship service. We will be in communication with you about the most convenient way for you to pick up your piece(s).

Thank you for being a valuable part of the FKPC community! We will look forward to seeing some of your creative works.
