The book Still Alice by Lisa Genova portrays what a journey of a life with Alzheimer’s disease might feel like. This award-winning book helped revolutionize the way many think about this horrible disease. The book led to a movie which is currently on Netflix. The movie is also available for rent on Amazon Prime for approx. $3. Attendees do not need to have read the book or seen the movie to participate.
We will explore the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease that Alice experienced, how she advocated for herself, and how those around her reacted to her illness. The books teaches us how to use empathy, kindness and human dignity as we care for and communicate with individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s and similar diseases.
