A note from Pastor Bob; “This Sunday is one of my favorite days of the church year – World Communion Sunday!”
Always held on the first Sunday of October, World Communion Sunday is the day when Christians around the world, and across denominations, come to the Table, as a sign of our unity in Christ.
Fun Fact: World Communion Sunday was the brainchild of a Presbyterian minister Hugh Thompson Kerr in 1933. It was later adopted by the Federal Council of Churches, and today is celebrated by Christians from many different denominations on every continent around the world.
The music and liturgy in our service this Sunday will reflect the fact that ours is a worldwide faith!
Also note that we will be taking up the Peace and Global Witness Special Offering this Sunday.
75% of what is collected will support our denomination’s peacemaking efforts around the world, and 25% of what we contribute will stay right here for us to use to further peacemaking efforts in our own community.
