Ash Wednesday Service – Tomorrow @ 12:15 p.m.
Dear Fort King Faithful,
Tomorrow/Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the first day in the church season known as Lent. Lent is a period of 40 days (not counting Sundays) which leads us to – and prepares us for – the Resurrection of our Lord on Easter Day!
The first day of Lent is known as Ash Wednesday, because during the service ashes worshipers have their foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross, as the words: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return” are shared with the believer.
To mark the day, we have a brief meditative service scheduled in the Fort King Sanctuary from 12:15-12:45. We are hoping this will allow some folks to join us on their lunch-hour. This contemplative service will offer space for prayer, scripture, and the imposition of ashes as we begin our Lenten journey together.
I do hope you will join us for this service of reflection and renewal.
Lenten Blessings,
-Pastor Bob
