Crossroads II, Sunday, April 21, 2024. “Practicing the Presence of God: The Meaning of the Celtic Cross”

The Crossroads II class will watch part of a video of John Philip Newell describing the meaning of the Celtic cross. The video is taken from Diana Butler Bass’ podcast called “The Cottage.” Newell notes that the Celtic cross depicts the mystery of the cross and the mystery of the cosmos coming together. He says that for most of us our first experience of the divine is in the natural world, or the cosmos. Only later do we experience the divine through scripture and personal encounters with others.
Susan Jensen will then lead a discussion on what is seen and heard on the video.
