Crossroads II – Sunday, December 15, 2024. “The Christmas Story… and Our Christmas Stories”.
Each year at this time we retell THE Christmas story that never seems to grow old. The sameness, the familiar expectations, and the surrounding traditions add to the perennial charm. But there are also OUR Christmas stories — retold at family gatherings, passed on to our offspring, or stored in our private and personal memories. Whether they are humorous or poignant, tied to the secular side of our Christmas culture, or deeply spiritual in nature, they have been milestones of our life’s journey, especially during this ever-renewing season of profound love.
Come this Sunday and share your memories as we consider the role that storytelling plays in all the seasons of our lives, but this one in particular. Susan Jensen will be our leader. She is a great story teller herself and she has taught courses in the art of storytelling.
A few things to kindle your thoughts:
What music, scriptures, literature, or traditions resonate most deeply with you? Who are the people who color your recollections of Christmas past? What one gift has meant the most to you over the years? What foods or decorative objects are essential to the celebration? How, and what, did you learn about Santa Claus? Are there any old traditions you would like to see resurrected? Any new ones that you would just as soon let go of?
Come let your light shine, and help to make our collective season bright.
Please join us for coffee (and on Zoom) at 8:45 and class will begin at 9:00.
