Crossroads II, Sunday, May 4, 2025. The Garden as a Place to Connect With God: Seeking Intimacy With the Creator

Susan Jensen will lead the Crossroads II class this Sunday. Here, she gives us a small introduction:
“We are human, a word derived from ‘humus,” meaning ‘Earth.” When we speak of “Mother Earth,” we acknowledge our origin and the sustaining environment out of which we derive what we need to ensure our viability. Earth’s provisions and delights, its cyclical rhythms, its interspecies encounters, and its mysteries were humanity’s first teachers and guides. The Creator left a divine imprint on and within us and all created life and matter. That remnant of Godself from the spoken word, “Let there be light,” was the means by which we were able to recognize the kinship, the harmony, and wholeness — the holiness — that called us to “Be still and know that I am God.” In our advancement, we have lost some of that capacity to see the Holy in our midst, and that loss haunts us with a sense that something is missing. Even so, our lost communion has not abandoned us. In fact, it beckons us to pay attention. Think about times when you have been surprised by God in the natural world, or about encounters with wild creatures and features that deepened your love for Creation in all its forms — humanity included. This Sunday we will share stories and practices that inspire us to reconnect with the eternal Holy One and to ‘get back to where we once belonged.’”
Please join us for coffee (and on Zoom) at 8:45 and class will begin at 9:00.
