Living Buddha, Living Christ

Chapters 5, 6, & 7

The class will be held in the Session Room

(and on Zoom)

Susan Jensen will lead the Crossroads discussion this Sunday as we examine chapters 5, 6, & of Thich Nhat Hanh’s book, Living Buddha, Living Christ. We will look further into the compatible likenesses between Buddhism and Christianity — the ways of love, compassion, and understanding. Both traditions value the concept of community. Both value precepts and commandments that undergird the teachings of their respective spiritual ancestors. The Five Precepts, the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount each contain within themselves echoes of overlapping understanding. Likewise, the interface between the Judeo-Christian and Buddhist spiritual traditions may foster mutual enlightenment. In the words of Maya Angelou, "We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike."

Please join us for coffee (and on Zoom) at 8:45 and class will begin at 9:00
