Israel and Palestine:

Historical Background to Conflict

The class will be held in the Session Room

(and on Zoom)

Mary Beth Neely will lead Crossroads this Sunday as we delve into the historical backdrop for the current conflict and crisis in Israel, in Gaza and in the West Bank. Three years ago on October 7 2023 Hamas-led Palestinians from Gaza stormed into two Kibbutzim in southern Israel, killing about 1,200 men, women and children, and taking 251 people hostage. It was the deadliest day for Jewish people since the holocaust. In response, Israeli forces attacked Gaza, destroying homes, hospitals, schools, and businesses. About 75,000 people have been killed with about 10,000 still missing. What events over the years have brought Israelis and Palestinians to this place? For the next Two Sundays we will explore the historical background to the conflict.

Please join us for coffee and on Zoom at 8:45, and class will begin at 9:00.
