GI Friday, Fort King Family!

Here’s all the news you need to know this weekend!

Camera Illustration, Camera Typography, Illustrated Quote, Camera Poster, Retro Camera, Vintage Camera Illustration, Smile and Say Cheese - EtsyCongregational Photo…Take 2!!

Last Sunday we wanted to take a Congregational Photo, which would then be included in our 60th Anniversary commemorative booklet; however, when the air conditioning in the Sanctuary went down, and we moved our worship service into the Fellowship Hall, we decided to delay our Picture-Taking. Good News: The Air Conditioning is back-up-and-running! So that means, I am asking you to once again put on your Sunday best and join us this Sunday (August 24th) for a Fort King Family Photo!

Worship this Sunday at Fort King!

This Sunday we continue our current look at various images of the Church found in the New Testament, which speak to us of our identity and mission in Christ.  This week we look at a delightful image found in 2 Corinthians: “You are a Letter from Christ.”    Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. in person and online.

Cereal Food Drive:  First, let me thank you for your tremendous response to our Cereal Food Drive for the Interfaith Food Pantry.  This targeted food drive will continue for one more Sunday (August 24th).  We have been told that “the shelves are bare,” and cereal is one of the most highly requested food items.  Your generosity is deeply appreciated!

Food4Kids:  Another ongoing mission project of the church is our support for the Interfaith “Food4Kids” program.  This ministry provides a bag of food to children from food-insecure families every Friday, so they are sure to have something to eat over the weekend.  Different churches are responsible for different items – Fort King is known as “The Pudding People!”  Donations of snack-sized pudding cups, or better yet, financial contributions which allow us to buy in bulk, are greatly appreciated.  This ministry continues throughout the school year.

Saturday, September 13th we have scheduled a “Meet and Greet” on the Hope House Grounds from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  Everyone is invited, though we would appreciate it if you would bring some sort of appetizer to share.

Sunday, September 14th we have a special worship service planned, which will also include some of our previous pastors and staff helping leading the service!  I hope you all will come as we give thanks for all God has done, and continues to doing, through Fort King Presbyterian Church!

Celebration Luncheon:  We are now up to 150 reservations for our 60th Anniversary Catered Luncheon, on September 14th…If you have not signed, I urge you to speak with Bernice or the church office immediately, because time and space is quickly running out, and a reservation is required to attend the luncheon after church that day!

60th Anniversary Booklet:  All of our guests on September 14th will receive a Commemorative Booklet that is chock-full of photos and articles that tell the Fort King story!  I know you will be both delighted by this trip down memory lane, and inspired for by all we are currently doing for Christ’s kingdom today.

How Can I Help?  This Sunday, we will have a sign-up sheet asking for volunteers to help set-up, staff, and clean-up for this various activities.  We can’t do this without your help!  And while, there is no charge for any of these events and activities, we are humbly asking for any donations to help defray our expenses.  Thank you in advance for your physical and financial help.

See you Sunday!
