I will be on vacation the next two Sundays (a family trip to England), but I’m leaving you in good hands! Two of our own will lead our worship services while I’m gone – Debbie Pangrass on July 20th and Susan Jensen on July 27th. I’ve heard what they plan to preach on, so I know you are in for a real treat! Fort King is blessed with so many talented and thoughtful leaders…now, I pray you will bless them by your presence and support!
Before worship, why don’t you check out our Summer Sunday Study (and try saying that three times fast!). This week Barbara Fitos will lead us in a discussion of the wisdom of the great Sufi poet Rumi, and the Indian poet Tagore (chapters 6 and 7 in “The Great Search” by John Philip Newell). Class begins at 9:00 a.m. and is open to all – even if you haven’t read the book!
It’s hard to believe that a new School Year is about to start, but our partner school, Wyomina Park Elementary School (WPE), actually starts back up on July 22nd, and we would like to have a School Supply Drive for them! Lorraine Fuller is a teacher at WPE and says pencils, crayons, and black expo dry erase markers have been especially requested, but other supplies are appreciated too. The supplies will be used both in classrooms and available in our student store. So, pick up some school supply items next time you’re at Wal-Mart, Target, or wherever you shop, and bring them to church the next couple of weeks!
This coming Sunday (July 20th) is the third Sunday of the month, which means it’s “ART-4-ALL SUNDAY!” This month everyone will have the opportunity to create “blessing cards” and wire-wrapped shell jewelry. And we will be holding a special drive-through distribution of take-home art kits for all ages.
A4A will meet from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in the CE/Pearl Project Building, due to the new flooring currently being installed in the Fellowship Hall). Whether you stay for a moment or several hours, we promise a time of fun and meaningful connection!
