I encourage you to set time aside every day to read and study God’s word.  A Friday message from our music director Rick Roberts.

Good Friday morning,

I hope everyone is safe after the vicious weather yesterday.

Let’s start our weekend with a funny story:

Elizabeth asked her Sunday School class to sketch a picture of their favorite Bible stories.
She was puzzled by Bert’s picture, which showed four people sitting in a plane.
She asked him which bible story it was meant to represent.
‘The flight to Egypt,’ said Bert.
‘I see … and that must be Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, ‘Elizabeth said, ‘But who’s the fourth person?’
‘Oh, that’s Pontius – the Pilot.’
Young people are so interesting, and it is sometimes entertaining to hear their perception of the Bible.  When I was a “youngin”, I could picture David slaying Goliath, or Joshua and his men bringing down the walls of Jerico.  One of the best was Jonah being swallowed by a whale.

You cannot imagine the “pictures” of these stories I “saw” in my mind.  What adventures and thrills the Bible stories brought me.  Why, it was better than Roy Rogers or Captain Video.

Today, reading the scriptures is so very fulfilling to me.  The stories, wisdom, teachings, and truths are just as meaningful today as they were hundreds of years ago.

The Bible is relevant today, tomorrow, and forever.  I encourage you to set time aside every day to read and study God’s word.

See you Sunday

With a song in my heart,

Rick
