It is Thursday and Thursday is “Ponder” day. Here is a thought for you to ponder:
“For every moment that you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
I wish I could say that I’ve never been angry, but that would be a big fib. Of course, I have been angry at times. It could have been being told “no” by my parents and holding my breath. A fellow driver cut me off, and my Presbyterianism slipped. Angry at myself for a bad test grade. Usually, after my anger subsided, I thought to myself “was that worth it”? Oh, the “happy” time I squandered. |
Anger is not a good thing. It interferes with our well-being. It is also not God-like when anger is directed to another person.
Although I “back-slide” occasionally, I try my best not to become angry. Prayer for self-control, patience and understanding is the tool I use. The result: a lot of added happiness.
Ponder that, if you will, and have a blessed day.
With a song in my heart,
Rick
