Knowing that God is always with us;  With a song in my heart; thoughts from our music director, Rick Roberts.

Good Finally Friday!

It’s been a busy week for all of us, I’m sure.  Shopping, baking, planning all seem to be the activities of the week.  The choir has been working on some very special music for the Christmas Eve services at 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM.

It’s also getting close to this year becoming a part of the pages of history.  We look forward to a new year that will be filled with peace, joy, hope and love, in addition to good health and prosperity.  As I get older, I appreciate what my grandfather told me years ago – “The older you get, the faster time flies”.  How true.

I believe we all have something in common.  We really don’t know what lies ahead in 2024.  Yes, we plan for vacations, reunions, visiting others, special occasions and so on.   Those things are in our control.  But what about those things unexpected, sudden, or life-changing?

The Bible has some encouraging verses about concern and our welfare:

Knowing that God is always with us is undeniably the most comforting thought we can have.  Even in adversity, bad times, sickness, and other troubles, our ever present and loving Creator is beside us every moment of every day.  Prayer, praise and a daily walk with God is matchless.  Also, look around you.  God has given us a faithful and loving church family.  How marvelous is that!

I believe Proverbs makes it quite plain:

So, usher in 2024, confident, at ease, thankful and be blessed by God’s walking right beside you.  I plan on it.

This is my last devotional for this year as I celebrate with family.  Merry Christmas!  A “Happy New Year” devotional will come your way on January 1, 2024.  Until then,

Be blessed and see you in church on Sunday.

With a song in my heart,
Rick
