“Love”; With a song in my heart; thoughts from our music director, Rick Roberts.

Good Thoughtful Thursday!

Glad it’s not as cold this morning as it was yesterday.  However, the homemade chicken soup hit the spot.  Warm and delicious, healthy as well, it was a delectable comfort food to enjoy.  Only thing better would have been one of Joan Promin’s delicious grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches.  Yummy!

Have you ever wondered just how much you are loved?  I think that is an appropriate inquiry.  We all want to be loved, but I don’t believe love comes in various levels.  “I love you just a little” doesn’t seem right.  How about, “I’ll love you only when you are good”?  That doesn’t seem right either.  Or maybe, “I’ll love you as long as you love me”.  That seems a little selfish.  No, I don’t believe there are “categories” of love.

Now, that is a profound statement directly from the Bible!  Imagine, being loved regardless of our faults.  I believe that if we strive to do good, or be good, we will be forgiven for our slip-ups.  There are some things that God does not like about us, but those things are not an impedance to God’s love for us.  I will be so bold as to make a comparison.

My parents loved me with all they had within them.  Growing up, I did some things they didn’t like.  Not really big, bad things, but enough to be an annoyance to them.  Sometimes it led to being grounded or denied TV for a period of time.  Of course, I was angry about the punishment, and it didn’t sit well with me.  However, I knew that my mom and dad loved me without reservation.  How I loved them the same way in return.

That’s what I call Gods Love.  The Bible is clear about the love of God:

I love the words from that old hymn – “How Marvelous!  How Wonderful!  Is my Saviour’s love for me!”

Think on that, if you will.
Have a blessed day.
With a song in my heart,
Rick
