News You Need to Know! – (02-06-26)

Happy first Friday of February Fort King!

Heres the news you need to know this weekend!

A Reason to Watch the Winter Olympics (as if you need one)!

The Opening Ceremony to the Winter Olympics is today in Milan, Italy. Did you know that Ocala native Erin Jackson was selected as one of the flag-bearers for Team USA during the Opening Ceremony?! Two world-class speed skaters from Ocala, Erin Jackson and Brittany Bowe, will once again be participating in this years Winter Games.

This Sunday February 8th is Scout Sunday, and we will be recognizing our scouts and leaders during the worship service. Scouting has a long history at Fort King; we are currently home to Cub Scout Pack 18, Male Scout Troop 18, Female Scout Troop 9018, and Sea Scouts Ship 116. Prior to worship our Scouts are preparing a Pancake (and eggs and bacon) Breakfast this Sunday cost is $10/person, and will be served from 8:00-10:00 a.m., and they will be selling camp cards after the service, which offer discounts at many local restaurants.

CROSSROADS CLASS

This Sunday in Crossroads Gwynn Pealer and Jane Beebe will introduce a three Sunday series on The Process of Science. Both Gwynn and Jane were science teachers, so they come to us with a great deal of understanding and with a passion for Gods creation, the natural world. Come early for the Pancake Breakfast and join Crossroads at 9:00 a.m.!

This Sunday we will finish up our current four-week series on the Sermon on the Mount, with a sermon entitled Do This, Not That!

This Sunday is also Souper Bowl Sunday, and no, thats not a misspelling! Following the worship service, you can vote for the team you are rooting for the Seattle Seahawks or the New England Patriots by making a donation to a Soup Pot with your teams logo! This is a little bit of fun prior to the big game, but the kids of Ocala are the real winner, as all proceeds will go to Interfaith Emergency Centers Food For Kids Program!

P.S. We realize there are a number of extra-giving opportunities this week, as there are many weeks here at Fort King Please do not feel you have to give to them all! As a Mission Church there are no shortages of ministries we partner with and support, but we dont want you to feel pressured to give more than you are can. So, support the ministries that matter most to you, and pray for the rest!

Go FKPC Team!
