News You Need to Know! – (for Sunday, October 4, 2026)

Good Morning Fort King Family!

It’s Friday, so that means it is once again time for

“The News You Need to Know!”

This Sunday is one of my favorite of the church year – World Communion Sunday! On the first Sunday of October, Christians around the world come the Table of our Lord, as a sign of our Unity in Christ. During our service this week the music and liturgy will reflect the fact that ours is a world-wide faith, and my sermon is entitled “The Table Is Larger Than We Think!” You will hear about our new partnership with the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Anum, Ghana. And don’t forget that we will take up the PC(USA) World Communion Special Offering, which supports ministries of justice, peace, reconciliation, and witness around the globe So, please prayerfully consider your participation in this important shared ministry. So, this Sunday, “Think Globally and Worship Locally!”

Crossroads: The Future Is Peace

After the last two weeks of presentations about Islamic and Jewish contributions to faith and culture, this week’s Crossroads Class we will have a hands-on experience of praying for peace. Susan Jensen will lead participants in assembling their own prayer beads, and teach us how to use them in our personal devotions and contemplation.

Stewardship Campaign: “Step Up to the Plate!”

Next Sunday we begin our annual Stewardship Campaign, which this year we’re calling: “Step Up to the Plate!” Stewardship is not simply about budgets and pledges. It’s about showing up, contributing what you can, and taking a big swing for God! Our concluding Stewardship Celebration will be on Sunday, October 25th, which also happens to be my last Sunday, and nothing would make me happier than a full house, and a successful conclusion to this year’s Stewardship Drive that sets Fort King up for the future!
