Here’s the News You Need to Know

for this weekend at your favorite church!

This Sunday (September 27th) is our annual “Blessing of the Animals” Service. At this service we will give thanks for “all creatures great and small,” and especially for the animals who share our homes and brighten our lives. Many of you have submitted pictures of your pet, which will be displayed during the service and we will offer prayers of gratitude for our animal friends and ask God’s blessing upon them for the year ahead. This joyful service where we celebrate God’s love for all living things is open to everyone!

CROSSROADS THIS WEEK

This week at Crossroads (9:00 a.m. Sunday morning) we are very pleased to welcome John Elliott. John worked for the U.S. State Department, and has a comprehensive background in international affairs and humanitarian concerns; since retiring from his diplomatic career he now covers geopolitical and national issues as a journalist, author, and human rights activist. The focus of John Elliott’s talk with be the many contributions of the Jewish people to world culture and civilization. This should be a fascinating presentation and discussion, so be sure to come and give John a warm Fort King welcome!

SEPTEMBER MISSION-OF-THE-MONTH

Many of our neighbors served by the Interfaith Emergency Services find themselves in need new underwear, socks, and other essential items that cannot be provided secondhand, so please consider picking up a package or two to donate to our September Underwear Drive. It’s a simple way to support our community and help our neighbors with dignity and care.

WORLD COMMUNION SERVICE & SPECIAL OFFERING

Join us next Sunday as we celebrate World Communion Sunday, a joyful reminder that Christ’s table extends far beyond our own congregation, connecting us with Christians of every nation, culture, and language. Our worship will feature music, prayers, and expressions of faith from around the world as we give thanks for the unity we share in Christ.

During the service, we will also receive the World Communion Offering, which supports ministries of reconciliation and peace-building. Through these gifts, we participate in God’s work of building understanding, healing divisions, and seeking peace both locally and globally.

A COUPLE OF CANCELLATIONS

Pastor Bob and Linley are away for a few days, so there will be no Bible Study this Wednesday. Join us the following week as we resume our Fall Study: “Seeing The Savior: A Study of the Life of Christ through Art, Scripture and Song.”

After careful consideration, our Trunk-or-Treat event scheduled for Sunday, October 25, has been canceled. We appreciate everyone’s interest and willingness to participate. Thank you for your understanding, and please watch for information about upcoming church activities and events.

A LOOK AHEAD…

This year’s Stewardship Drive – “Step Up to the Plate!” – is scheduled for the month of October, with Stewardship Sunday set for Sunday, October 25th, Pastor Bob’s last Sunday.
