News You Need to Know! – this weekend at Fort King

Happy Friday, Fort King!

Here’s the News You Need to Know this weekend

In Loving Memory: Catherine Steddom

We were shocked and saddened to learn that our sister-in-faith, Catherine Steddom, passed away quite unexpectedly last Sunday, April 12th. Catherine was a caring and compassionate soul, serving in so many ways in the community and here at Fort King. Service plans will be shared with you when they are finalized. In the meantime, I ask that you give thanks to God for Catherine’s life and witness, and hold her family and her church family in your prayers.

Work Day – This Saturday!

Come lend a hand this Saturday, April 18th, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, as we care for our church grounds and facilities. Whether you can rake, trim, clean, organize, or simply offer good company, your help makes a real difference. Join us anytime that morning as we work together in gratitude for the place God has entrusted to us.

This Sunday at Fort King

This Sunday our Crossroads Adult Discipleship Class will begin a new five-week study entitled: “A Scientific Look at God’s Creation.” To kick things off, this week Gwynn Pealer and Susan Jensen will present a scientific and spiritual understanding of the universe.

We’ve celebrated the joy of Easter morning and the laughter of Bright Sunday, but if your hearts still feel heavy from too much loss, know that you are not alone. This Sunday we will rest in the promise of Psalm 116 – that God bends low to listen – and we will walk alongside the travelers on the Emmaus road, who discovered that Christ was with them even when they could not see it. Come as you are. Together we will listen for the quiet ways God meets us on the road and leads us back into hope. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. in person and online.

Art 4All this Sunday!

The 3rd Sunday of the Month is “Art 4 All” Sunday at Fort King, and everyone is invited join the fun from 2:00-5:00 p.m. This month there will be an exciting array of art and craft activities, creative play, snacks (of course), and a few surprises thrown in as well! We look forward to seeing you there – and bring a friend!

Earth Care Service – Sunday, April 26th

Join us next Sunday as we celebrate God’s good creation and renew our call to care for the earth. In worship we’ll lift up gratitude, hope, and our shared responsibility to tend the world entrusted to us. Come and be part of this joyful, thoughtful service of creation care. Following the service we will have a “Plant Exchange,” so feel free some plants from your garden to share with others, and take something new home with you!

See you Sunday…and don’t forget to wear your nametag!
