News You Need to Know – (Reformation Sunday and Halloween edition)

Quidnessett Baptist Church

This Sunday is Reformation Sunday – the day we celebrate our unique history as Protestants and Presbyterians!   We remember that it was on October 31, 1517 that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the cathedral door in Wittenberg, Germany; an event which touched off the church renewal movement that came to be known as the Protestant Reformation.  Our hymns and liturgy this coming Sunday will reflect our Reformation heritage.  My sermon is based on Luke 18:9-14, and is entitled “The Scandal of Grace!”  The Liturgical color for Reformation Sunday is RED, so get in the spirit and wear some red to church this Sunday!  Worship begins at 10:30 a.m.; if you are unable to attend in person, join us online: Join Worship Meeting ID: 876 3993 8456 /

Passcode: 1336

Prior to worship, everyone is invited to attend this week’s Crossroads Class at 9:30 a.m.  This week’s topic is: “The Crucifixion: What Happened, and What Does It Mean” led by Barbara Fitos.  If you are unable to join us in person, join us online: Join Crossroads Class Meeting ID: 838 3964 4511 / Passcode: Micah6:8

Trunk Or Treat Clipart in Holiday

This Sunday is also our first ever “Trunk or Treat” Outreach Eventat the church, from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  So, what is this?  “Trunk-Or-Treat” is a Halloween event where children go trick-or-treating car to car in a parking lot instead of door-to-door in a neighborhood. This family-friendly event provides a fun and safe place for young ones to trick-or-treat, anditgives all of us a chance to see all the kids the kids in their costumes and give away candy while hanging out with our church friends…what’s not to love about that!

Here’s How it works:  Come out around 5:30 p.m. and decorate the trunk of your vehicle with a Halloween theme: spiderwebs, jack-o-lanterns, or other festive decorations.  Be sure to bring a few bags of candy to pass out to the children as they trick-or-treat in our parking lot.  And let me also encourage you to bring a lawn chair so you sit by your car as you hand out treats to the kiddos and visit with your friends!  After trick-or-treating everyone, is invited into the Fellowship Hall for more Halloween food and fun.
