“Receiving a gift”; With a song in my heart; thoughts from our music director, Rick Roberts.

Have you ever received a gift that you could not figure out?  One year, I bought my mom a new TV for Christmas.  The remote was something out of the future with an array of buttons.  She had a difficult time acclimating herself to use the remote, but finally succeeded.  When I was gifted a new 2-wheel bike, I had some difficulty riding it.  I swayed to the left, then to the right, then to the left.  I finally asked if tricycles were made for adults.  The good news is I finally got the hang of it and still enjoy riding a bike to this day.  In any event, giving and receiving of gifts is a good thing.

But what about the gifts we receive from God?

The scriptures are filled with verses of God’s gifts.  Each of us are given gifts that are unique to us.  I believe Romans 12:4-8 is a fine example of the gifts of God:

Given the gift of music, among many gifts from our Creator, I always give God the glory.  And I praise every day for the greatest gift God gave all of us – the Saviour Jesus Christ!

Ponder on that, if you will.

Have a blessed day.

With a song in my heart,
Rick
