“The Power of Pollinators” presented by Sheena Schlegel. Join us for Crossroads II. Sunday, May 11, 2025.
Sheena Schlegel will lead the Crossroads II class this Sunday. As part of our series on discovering God in the natural word, Sheena will focus on pollinators in our Florida gardens.
Sheena is a life-long gardener. She grew up on a farm in Scotland with a dad who was an avid gardener. Both Sheena and her sister caught the bug. Sheena taught for over 20 years in Scotland, 9 as an elementary principal. She was also very active in Girl Guiding, holding various Scottish and UK appointments. After marrying Bob, Sheena moved to Long Island, NY and had to learn a new way of gardening. There she taught 5th Grade in a private school, and later became the director before retiring.
The Schlegels moved to Ocala in December 2011 and Sheena took the Master Gardener class the following year. Another new way of gardening. Her main areas of interest are propagation, growing herbs and vegetables, and now, creating pollinator gardens.
Sheena had been a Presbyterian her whole life. She was ordained as a deacon in the Church of Scotland., Here at Ft King she serves on various ministries and, of course, helps to take care of the church gardens.
Please join us for coffee (and on Zoom) at 8:45 and class will begin at 9:00.
