Two small group opportunities for reading and discussion.
I wanted to ensure that all of you know about two small group opportunities at Fort King PC for reading and discussion. First, we have a summer book club. This is the lineup of books and discussion times:
The Amen Effect by Sharon Brous — June 21 11 am
Leader: Barbara Fitos
An Unfinished Love Story by Doris Kearns Goodwin — July 18 11 am
Leader: Mary Beth Neely
The Exvangelicals by Sarah McCammon — August 22. 11 am
Leader: Carol McCammon
The Auburn Convention.by Tom Piazza — September 12. 11 am
Leader: Gwynn Pealer
Each meeting will be held in the Session Room at Fort King, and also on Zoom. If you can only read one or two of the books and join those discussions, that’s fine. You don’t have to commit to reading all of them. Or … if you cannot come to the book discussions, but would like to read the books, that’s great, too. Two of each book can be checked out in the Fort King library.
Second, we will read and discuss John Philip Newell’s book, “Christ of the Celts”. If you are interested, you might want to attend an organizational meeting this Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 10 am at the Hope House at Fort King.
I hope you will consider being part of one, or both of these groups.
Happy reading!
Mary Beth
