Wednesday has arrived and it’s time for a quote of the week: “In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. That means we have 1,440 daily opportunities to make a positive impact.” (Les Brown)
Jo Anne’s current sermon series are based on the Psalms. I’ve been doing my daily reading and have even jumped ahead. Featured on the table in the sanctuary are items dealing with time. Time is important to many of us. I like to have time to finish a project. I enjoy setting some time aside to commune with God. I relish the time I spend preparing a delicious meal (go figure). I am blessed by the time we spend in our worship together.
What does the scriptures say about time?
God has made everything beautiful in its time. God has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done them beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9)
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:12)
And my favorite:
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2)
How do we spend our 1,440 minutes every day? In Prayer? Reaching out to others? Combatting Injustice? Lending a helping hand? Though it may not be scripture, a quote from the movie, “Gone with the Wind”, is meaningful:
“Do not squander time. That is the stuff life is made of.”
My friends, I look forward to the time we spend together.
With a song in my heart, Rick
