Where there’s hope, there’s life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again.  (Anne Frank).  A message from our music director, Rick Roberts.

Good Wednesday morning!

Where there’s hope, there’s life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again.  (Anne Frank)

I am sometimes overwhelmed with concern about many things these days.  Among them – the conflict in Israel, the rising costs (especially for us seniors), injustice, discrimination, violent disagreements, and the decline in church vitality.

I continue my readings of Psalms and, as I’ve told you before, are ahead of the “schedule” Jo Anne laid out for us.  Sorry, Jo Anne, it’s just too meaningful to not “read on”.  I have found several Psalms that are a menu of hope for us.  Here are a few verses:

I believe I shall see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord, take courage; be stouthearted, wait for the Lord!  Psalm 42
Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
on those who hope in His steadfast love.  Psalm 33

For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.  Psalm 62
One of my favorites:
I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From whence shall come my help?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth…
The Lord will guard you from all evil; He will guard your soul.
The Lord will guard your coming and going both now and forever.  Psalm 121
Oh, Yes!  A wonderful message in song:

  1. Soft as the voice of an angel, Breathing a lesson unheard,
Hope with a gentle persuasion, Whispers her comforting word:
Wait till the darkness is over, Wait till the tempest is done,
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow, After the shower is gone.
  2. Whispering hope, oh, how welcome thy voice,
  3. Making my heart in its sorrow rejoice.

I am uplifted by the Psalms and, of course, music.  I don’t feel so overwhelmed knowing I can “Lean on the promises of God”.

Have a blessed day.

With a song in my heart,
Rick
