With a song in my heart; thoughts from our music director, Rick Roberts.
Our quote of the week comes from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:
“If you can’t fly then run,
if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl,
but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” (Martin Luther King Jr.)
God has been faithful in bad times, good times, and everything in between. Had it not been, I would be shackled with the “crawl”. I am grateful for our Creator’s everlasting encouragement to soar like eagles. Blessing flow every day.
I’m going to let you in on a secret to how appreciative I am of God’s love for me and for you. Every night of my adulthood, as I go to sleep, I hum “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, and focus on the words:
“All I have needed, Thy Hand hath provided:
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”
My God has been faithful in the promise of “I will always be with you”.
On the “flip side”, every morning when I wake up, I sing the words:
“Awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless king
through all eternity.”
I consider the word “sing” to be the honor of proclaiming God’s love for us. To testify of the sacrifice that was made for us. To reach out and help someone who may be down and crawling. To not face injustice with silence. To feed someone who is hungry. To know that today, and every day, God provides me with the ability to FLY!
Our Creator is FAITHFUL THROUGH ALL ETERNITY!
My prayer for you every day is to fly in the strength of God’s almighty hand.
With a song in my heart,
Rick
