“We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy”;  With a song in my heart; thoughts from our music director, Rick Roberts.

Good Finally Friday Morning!

I have a love for “bloopers” that appear in church bulletins.  They are hilarious and cause me to have a good belly laugh.  But I’m very careful when I proofread our church bulletin for Sheri.  I don’t want to have our “blooper” on the internet.  The good news is that Sheri very rarely makes a typo and I get to send her the message “to the presses”.

Here is a bulletin blooper that was a good laugh:

That’s a timely blooper since there will be a white elephant sale at our church November 13-18.  I’m going to be there to see all the good things for sale, but I hope I don’t any see husbands for sale!

It is good to laugh.  Laughter brings happiness and joy.  Laughter brings comfort when you are feeling down.  Laughter, from a giggle to a roaring laugh is good for our well-being.  The Bible has some interesting verses about laughter and joy:

“The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy.
The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep,
and the valleys are carpeted with grain.
They all shout and sing for joy!”  (Psalm 65″12-13)

“He will once again fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy.”  (Job 8:21)

“We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy.
And the other nations said,
“What amazing things the Lord has done for them.”  (Psalm 126:2)

An article in Psychology Today stated:  “Although laughter is not generally under voluntary control, it has numerous health benefits.

Bouts of laughter can boost the immune system, relax muscles, aid circulation, and protect against heart disease. It can abet and encourage mental health, too; laughter can lower anxiety, release tension, improve mood, and foster resiliency”.

So, laugh!  Be joyful!  Declare the goodness of God with joy, praise, and yes, laughter.

I can’t resist.  Here’s one more blooper that is timely as well.

We will be “Hanging the Greens” on Saturday, December 2nd.  Come help decorate and laugh with us!  “The church is glad to have with us today as our guest minister the Rev. Ralph Green, who has Mrs. Green with him. After the service we request that all remain in the sanctuary for the Hanging of the Greens.”

Have a blessed day and see you Sunday.

With a song in my heart,

Rick
